White: A Season in the Life of John Borden Evans is a documentary film produced by Heritage Film Project. The film, produced and directed by Eduardo Montes-Bradley, premiered at the Virginia Historical Society as part of the Official Selection at the Richmond International Film Festival, and was awarded Best Short Documentary, 2015. White is part of a series of biographical sketches on "artists at work" which includes the names of Ernesto Deira, Perez Celis, Andres Waissman, and Humberto Calzada. White: A Season in the Life of John Borden Evans premiered on PBS on Thursday, July 2.

Argument

White: A Season in the Life of John Borden Evans explores the working artist John Borden Evans, capturing the quiet and the quotidian elements of life in Virginia's countryside. The settings for the film are the old farmhouses and surrounding rural area of North Garden, in the vicinity of Charlottesville, which are noticeable influences in the subject matter on Borden Evans' paintings. Evans depicts rural landscapes and animals in his thickly painted works, creating texture through build up and scrape away techniques. The title is in reference to the visual fact the production took place in the snow, white is also the prevalent base calor on John Borden's paintings during the period in which the film was produced.
