Windstream Concord Telephone, Inc., commonly known as Concord Telephone or CTC, is a telecommunications company located in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

History

The company began in 1897 as The Concord Telephone Company. L.D. Coltrane is credited with being its primary founder. CTC was the incumbent local exchange carrier in Cabarrus, Stanly, and Rowan counties, North Carolina. It served over 120,000 access lines in this area. CTC also provided competitive local exchange carrier services to business and residential customers located throughout North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, CTC employed over 600 individuals.

In addition to landline telephone service, the company also provided wireless service and Internet access.

Acquisition

On August 31, 2007, Windstream Communications acquired the company for $585 million. It was then renamed to its current Windstream Concord Telephone, Inc. It is separate from Windstream North Carolina, which has been owned since the sale of Alltel's wireline assets to Valor Telecom.
