Music Messenger was established in Israel in April 2014 by Internet entrepreneurs OD Kobo and David Strauss and launched September 21, 2014. The company raised US$30 million since its formation in two rounds of finance. The investors include music icons such as Avicii, will.i.am, Nicki Minaj, Tiƫsto, Sebastian Ingrosso, Benny Andersson, David Guetta, Gee Roberson (the former Chairman of Geffen Records, manager of T.I., Nicki Minaj), Dave Holmes (manager of rock band Coldplay), Wayne Barrow (the former manager of Notorious B.I.G.), Mark Pitts (President of Urban at RCA Records) amongst other luminaries from the music industry. In 2015 businessman Roman Abramovich invested US$15 million in the start-up.
Music Messenger was launched on September 21, 2014 and as of January 2017 has attracted over 10 million users and over 500 million total monthly plays.
